THE ERIE CANAL AT LOCKPORT, NEW YORK HEADING FROM BOSTON TO THE MIDWEST I DECIDED TO MAKE AN OVERNIGHT STOP AT LOCKPORT, NEW YORK AND TAKE A BOAT RIDE ON THE ERIE CANAL. MOST PEOPLE HAVE HEARD OF THE ERIE CANAL BUT THAT IS AS FAR AS THEIR KNOWLEDGE GOES. IT WAS INTERESTING TO HEAR THE HISTORY OF THE CANAL AND TAKE A RIDE THROUGH LOCKS 34 AND 35.

SENIOR DREAM CRUISE

During my recent visit to Michigan to participate in the Woodward Dream Cruise I attended many other activities that lead up to the big day.

When it's Dream Cruise week the car culture people come alive in Michigan. There are events in many locations. I was out shopping when a friend called and said "I just saw a car show starting if you are interested." Being nearby and loving all cool cars I hightailed it over to the location and saw some really awesome rides. Maybe if I am there next time I'll phone ahead and join in the fun !!!

The event is best described by this excerpt from the web site of the folks running the event...JEWISH SENIOR LIFE:

"A beautiful summer day, classic cars, and older adults who have special memories of their vintage automobiles come together to create a unique and very special event at the annual Jewish Senior Life Senior Dream Cruise.

Cars are a part of the life-blood of most Detroiters, and for the residents of the communities of Jewish Senior Life, classic cars bring back memories of cruising Woodward, first dates and a time gone-by. Each year, more than 70 cars spanning every decade, cruise the Jewish Community Campus in West Bloomfield, where residents, family members and the community can enjoy the festivities and party atmosphere. Held just a few days before the Woodward Dream Cruise, the Senior Dream Cruise provides an opportunity for those older adults living on campus, and who may be mobility-impaired, with a chance to enjoy the classic cars and reminisce about their days of cruising down Woodward behind the wheel of some of the very same models they will enjoy in this trip down Memory Lane."
