CRUISIN' SEASON KICKOFF AT PATRIOT PLACE

The unofficial start to the cruising season was on Thursday, April 11, at Patriot Place in Foxboro. The Mass Cruisers Auto Club held the first Bass Pro Shops Cruise night of the season. It was sunny and in the mid 50s...cool but comfortable as the faithful rolled in for this event. EMCC was well represented although it wasn't really crowded in the parking lot.

The event continues biweekly through October. Dates during August and September are subject to change if the date conflicts with Gillette Stadium events or any New England Patriots' Thursday home game dates. The curise nights are scheduled for April 25, May 9 & 23, June 6 & 20, July 11 & 18, August 1 & 15 & 29, September 12 & 26, and October 10 & 24. Cars start arriving at around 3:00 PM (or earlier) and the show wraps up at around dusk.

You are asked to bring a food donation for local food pantries or make a small cash donation.

See you there.

SEASIDE RENDEZVOUS

Saturday, July 7, can be described as a picture perfect day for any car event. I decided to cruise down to Fort Adams in Newport, R.I. for a cars and coffee being sponsored by Audrain Auto Museum. The location was tops among those I have been to and the weather was close to perfect.

There was a huge turnout...with plenty of space for parking and a wide variety of cars (and a few motorcycles) present. A surprise of the day was that Jay Leno showed up. He recently bought a mansion in Newport, about 10 minutes away from this location, and I figured it was only a matter of time before he showed up at an event. Dressed in his trademark denim shirt and jeans he wandered around the show, causing some excitement, talking with car owners and kindly taking selfies with attendees. Someone walked by me and I heard them say "don't mention his name." Looking around there he was.

CAROUSEL CAR CRUISE

I am always looking for events that i have never heard of or been to before. Somehow, I came up with the Carousel Cruise Night at the Crescent Park Looff Carousel. The event is run on Saturdays from 4:00-8:00 PM at 700 Bullocks Avenue in Riverside, R.I. . This is a smaller but very nice show held on the grass behind the carousel building. There was musical entertainment by a young woman playing the guitar and singing and, being by a beach, there is a concession stand selling seafood and other items. They also held a raffle you got a ticket for free but there was a cup to make a donation if you chose to. Nice mix of cars and nice people. Definitely will stop by again.
