OCTOBER 11, 2021

TEXT & PHOTOS BY KEITH E. JACOBSON

The Boston Marathon is run on the third Monday in April. It was cancelled in 2020 do to the Covid epidemic. This year it was moved from April to October due to continued concerns about Covid.

On Monday, October 11, the runners were off blessed with good, if a little bit warm weather. The Day was partly cloudy with temperatures touching the high 60s. At Mile 19 by city hall in Newton (MA) the roads were lined with spectators cheering the runners on. There were water and Gatoraid stations on each side of the road and smiles were numerous on the faces of the runners and crowd. Well done Boston Athletic Association !!!

YOLO ... POLO CAR SHOW

The Audrain Automobile Museum (Newport, R.I.) held a Cars & Coffee event on Sunday, June 27, at the Polo Grounds in Portsmouth, R.I.. The weather was great, lots of interesting cars, and a friendly crowd.

One of the volunteers estimated 350+ vehicles in attendance. A nice thing about heading to the "Ocean State" is that there is a different mix of vehicles then you would see at our regular venues. There was everything from a 1951 Crosley Hotshot, still in the hands of the family that originally purchased it, to a Unimog, a hand built automobile that looked like it was from the 1930s, lots of Corvettes, Ferraris, and many other interesting rides.
