123rd Running of the Boston Marathon

Approximately 30,000 runners made their way through Newton today in the 123rd running of the Boston Marathon on Patriot's Day, Monday, April 15th. The temperatures were in the 60s as the first runners came through with partly sunny skies. The top winners were for the women's open Worknesh Degefa from Ethiopia (2:23:31), men's open Lawrence Cherono from Kenya (2:07:57), men's wheelchair Daniel Romanchuk from USA (1:21:36), and women's wheelchair Manuela Schar from Switzerland (1:34:19).
Also, in this years marathon was Jimmy Johnson, a seven time NASCAR Cup champion. His target was to complete the race in three hours and he was just off with a time of 3:09:08.On the  Saturday before the marathon he drove in the 300 mile Toyota Owner's race in Virginia. Flying up to Boston to run in the marathon. In his division he placed 646 and overall 4183. He wore bib #4848 ... when racing his Chevrolet race car sports #48.
